Cadenza is my first full-length, original script. This embarked on the additional responsibilities of casting, producing, handling backstage tasks, and managing more of the marketing.
"Four Sinners. Four Trials. One Chosen."
Four people wake up in a sterile room only to discover that they were once murderers whose memories have been erased. As result, they are now being forced to participate in a deadly rehabilitation program with the promise of becoming average citizens again if they pass. As the trials continue, the four discover more about themselves and the paths that led them to become monsters in the first place.
Cadenza was featured in the 2023 Hollywood Fringe Festival for 3 runs and 2 encores in the Hudson Theater. All 5 showings were consistently sold out and was in high demand throughout June and July. It won the following awards:
Hollywood Fringe Festival 2023 Play Stage Recording
Provided English captioning and edited .srt file for YouTube.
The Idea:
The inception of 'Cadenza' can be traced back to candid conversations with friends and family, revolving around the concept of how we pass judgment on individuals deemed as "terrible people." It was prompted by the constant deluge of distressing news, with crime and atrocities dominating the headlines, often perpetrated by faceless strangers. This recurring theme of heinous acts left me pondering the deeper motives behind such actions, a discomfort that 'Cadenza' seeks to explore.
Daniel G. Garza invited the entire ‘Cadenza’ team to speak on his live interview show which you watch here. Within this hour-long conversation we discuss the show’s themes, the actor’s perceptions of the characters, the process of developing the show, and other behind-the-scenes stories.
